Apprentices and those businesses and public sector teams giving young adults a chance to shine are to be recognised in a new awards scheme for East Kent.
Nominations are open now for the inaugural East Kent Apprenticeship Awards recognising the future stars of the workplace and the businesses and organisations championing this route to the workplace.
The awards will showcase what is being achieved across the numerous sectors engaged with apprenticeships including construction and engineering, hospitality and retail, science and manufacturing, business administration and health and beauty.
They will celebrate outstanding apprenticeships, employers and those who go above and beyond to raise the profile of apprentices in this dynamic part of the county.
Apprentices, businesses and organisations from across East Kent (Ashford, Folkestone & Hythe, Canterbury, Thanet, Swale and Dover districts) are all eligible to be nominated across 13 different categories.
To enter the awards, complete the nomination form, select one nominated category per entry and explain in up to 250 words why your nominee deserves recognition. The deadline for nominations has been extended to Friday, 15 February 2019.
The winners will be announced at a special event at The Yarrow Hotel in Broadstairs on Thursday, 7 March 2019.
EKAA is being organised by Kent-based creative and digital agency, Pillory Barn, in collaboration with EKC Group. The awards are proud to have the support of Discovery Park as sponsor and the KM Media Group as media partner.
Mayer Schreiber, CEO of Discovery Park, outlines why it is supporting the East Kent Apprenticeship Awards.
He said: “We are proud to be sponsoring the East Kent Apprenticeship Awards. At Discovery Park the STEM agenda is a key part of our mission – there is a large skills base that has been a major part of this science park’s success for many years, and we are focused on continuing to grow STEM talent to meet the employment needs of the life sciences industry here. The East Kent Apprenticeships Awards is a fantastic opportunity to showcase the amazing work that is being done by young people and businesses across the region.”
Neil Webster, Commercial Director at the KM Media Group, explains why the multimedia company was keen to pledge its support to the awards: “We are really pleased to be associated with the inaugural East Kent Apprenticeship Awards. It is important to us here at the KM Media Group to celebrate the great work and efforts by apprentices, employers and stakeholders. Apprenticeships are a growing and really valuable pathway into employment and for East Kent, a vital part of the working population.”
Miranda Chapman, Managing Director of Pillory Barn, is pleased to be organising the awards in partnership with EKC Group: “We are delighted to be working on the first ever East Kent Apprenticeship Awards. It is the perfect opportunity to recognise the apprentices that are making an impact in the east of the county as well as all the businesses and public sector organisations that educate and create opportunities for these apprentices.”
