A strong commitment to learning and development is evident throughout the organisation. 2Gether Support Solutions is open to discussing improvements to enhance apprentice success and works collaboratively with its training provider, embracing feedback to improve experiences. Apprenticeships are available not only to new or younger staff but also to existing employees seeking to develop professionally, demonstrating a dedication to continuous growth and adding value across the team.

Ellie-Marie Miller

Throughout the apprenticeship with East Kent Colleges Group, exceptional dedication and resilience have been demonstrated despite significant health challenges for Ellie, including heart surgery in 2024. Commitment to both work and studies remained unwavering, resulting in a Distinction in the Knowledge Test. This outstanding balance of practical achievement and academic success highlights a truly exemplary apprentice and valuable team asset.

Joshua May

Since joining Spyder in September 2023, Joshua has shown great initiative, enthusiasm, and a strong commitment to learning. He communicates well, respects instructions, and actively contributes ideas to improve work practices. Passing his driving test during the apprenticeship enabled him to join the fitting team, maintaining vehicles and equipment. Approaching early completion of his course, he recently completed his first full project—from client design to installation—with excellent results, earning high praise from the customer.

Liz Roache

The Learning & Development Manager, Liz, at 2Gether Solutions is highly effective in supporting her organisation’s staff through apprenticeships. She has a strong understanding of what learners need to complete their apprenticeships successfully and ensures they receive ample time and support from line managers. Feedback from learners highlights her exceptional support and commitment, making Liz a valuable asset dedicated to advancing apprenticeships within the organisation.

Maison Ioannou-Jehle

Maison, a Carpentry & Joinery apprentice with WW Martin and East Kent College Group, has shown exceptional dedication, skill, and professionalism. Overcoming early challenges through maturity and proactive communication, he consistently excelled in demanding construction environments, including live hospital sites. His strong work ethic, attention to detail, and positive attitude earned respect from colleagues and supervisors alike. Now fully qualified, Maison remains a valued team member and exemplary ambassador for apprenticeships. 

Mia Chapman

Mia demonstrated exceptional versatility and dedication during her Business Admin apprenticeship at Sideways Media, gaining skills across admin, events, PR, marketing, and content creation. From developing new processes to leading the Kent Wedding Awards’ administration, she consistently delivered high-quality work with great attention to detail and communication. Despite a serious illness near the end of her training, Mia’s commitment never wavered. Awarded a Distinction, she secured a permanent role tailored to her skills.

Samantha Ready

Sideways Media launched the Sideways Academy to open doors into media and marketing for young people in Kent. Despite a small team, they expanded their apprenticeship program in 2023 and 2024, including their first Creative Digital Marketing apprentice. Sam personally tailors each apprentice’s journey, helping them build skills, confidence, and broaden their expertise not only to the best of their interest but to stretch them to grow in new areas and learn new skills.

The Marlowe Theatre

As Kent’s largest performing arts employer, this organisation is committed to nurturing the next generation of theatre professionals. In 2023, it introduced two technical apprenticeships, offering hands-on training with industry leaders. Apprentices Alex and Louise graduated with distinctions and progressed into technician roles, becoming valued team members. Skills development extends beyond the stage, with caretaker Danny completing a Property Maintenance apprenticeship. By paying the Real Living Wage and removing access barriers, the organisation champions apprenticeships as a vital pathway into long-term careers in theatre, building a future for young people in Kent.

Helen Wright & Hilary Kelly

EKAA 2025 CHAMPIONS

Helen and Hilary joined the East Kent Hospitals Apprenticeship Team three years ago and have been vital throughout a challenging period of reduced finances, staff changes, and evolving apprenticeship landscapes. Their unwavering dedication has driven key projects, including creating a digital apprenticeship portal, improving data management for over 280 apprentices, and supporting the recruitment of 57 new apprentices across multiple disciplines. Helen’s marketing skills combined with Hils’ structured planning make them a powerful team. Both have received multiple awards for going above and beyond, embodying true apprenticeship champions and driving the service toward excellence.
